– Intro / Brief Overview
What’s up everybody and welcome to Magic For Beginners, my name is Keith and in today’s video we’re going to be looking at and reviewing Magic’s Dumbest Trick by Discount Magic and that’s not me calling it that, that’s the actual name of the effect, honestly. I bet you don’t believe me, but I’m being serious!
– What Is The Routine/Trick?
Let’s talk about the routine/trick that is Magic’s Dumbest Trick and this was released at Blackpool Magic Convention 2026 and that’s where I got this one from. This is labelled as Discount Magic’s silliest items they’ve released, but I think their Celebrity My Choice is sillier, but both are good tricks.
This Magic’s Dumbest Trick is actually a three in one magic effect, which I actually had so many more ideas for things using this, so turned it into a bigger number of effects, but is marketed as three. There’s find the queen which uses marked Bicycle cards, Water divination with two glass bottles and the cap and pea trick. All of these use a special magical wand which you get in the packet.
– How Much Does It Cost?
This is where some of you will be shocked at the price and how ridiculous it is… It’s only £10 for this which is a fantastic price I think, especially for what you get inside of it. The fact that they’re using Bicycle stock cards too is a bonus and instantly makes it feel more premium than packet tricks that use off-brand and cheap cards.
– Quick Performance
As stated, there’s three different effects available in the packet so here’s a performance of one of the effects, but I suppose you could always combine two of them into one effect.
– What Do You Get With It?
In the trick, you get three specially animated magical wands and using the packet, you can easily make your own extra wand to be used for the effects too. These are super high technology wands which must have cost a fortune to produce too and I just wish I came up with the idea as I’d be loaded by now.
You also get the custom marked Bicycle Cards and routine for the find the queen aspect of the trick and you use the wand to find the queen and as stated in the description, you can also make this a more adult orientated presentation using the wand.
You also get two glass bottles included too which is for a water divination effect similar to the dowsing effect where you use two rods to find water, this one uses the magical wand. You have a bottle with water and one without and the wand will always point to the bottle that has water in.
Last but not least, you have the cap and pea which is three different bottle caps and a pea which you can use the wand to have it locate the pea after the spectator has hid it under one of the caps.
– Is It Easy To Perform and where can you perform it?
Let’s talk about the ease of the magic trick and where it can be performed. These are super easy tricks that you can perform and can be performed anywhere you go pretty much. The bottles add a bit bulk for an EDC, but you can most definitely carry around these three tricks included and perform them quickly and easily in all situations. Sometimes you may need a table for them, but you could always adapt the tricks and have them on a spectators hand etc. Because of how easy they are to perform, you can then take various things from the tricks and perform variations, such as the bottle trick, you could take two pieces of paper and write on one and roll them both up into each bottle and even when shuffled, you’ll know which bottle has the written piece of paper in… The possibilities are endless.
– Can You Inspect It?
Can these be inspected? Yes of course. The wands are just wands and despite having this advanced technology in as stated, there’s actually nothing in the wands and they’re just plastic so can be handed out for examination. The cards can also be examined as despite being marked, people aren’t going to know this and the rest of the stuff could probably be handed out too, but not for proper thorough examination as such.
– Is It Well Made?
Is it well made? Yep, I think so! The only thing for me was that the pea was so small I ended up dropping it and losing it the first time I opened up the pack, but eventually found it again, but this can be anything at all to be used under the caps for the tricks too, so you don’t have to use the pea. The caps are of good quality, the bottles are glass so of course they’re sturdy and the cards are Bicycle, so you know what they’re like. The wands are fairly heavy duty too and would stand many performances, but could be easy to source some new ones should they get broke, you’ll see what I mean when you look at the wand.
– Positives
Positives is definitely the price of the item and what’s included. It’s three pounds and thirty three pence recurring per magic trick which is fantastic value and like I stated before, they’re all easy to perform and you can then use the props and effects for something completely different, making this effect quite versatile for sure!
– Negatives
Negatives for me would be that damn pea and how small and easy it was to lose, but maybe that’s just me being clumsy. But again, you can use anything small to go under the caps, even some money because the pea doesn’t play a big part in it other than being the prop to hide, as it’s usually a pea and some shells in old style magic. A minor negative for sure, but worth putting in there… And if of course you’re dumb enough to buy this trick and dumb enough to put small things in your mouth, that might be a choking hazard, but I don’t think you’re dumb at all. Some others may say that, but I don’t think that about you, even if you do buy this magic’s dumbest trick, you’re not dumb, ok?!
Ok, I’m glad we got that out of the way and what isn’t dumb is watching another review which should be appearing on the screen now such as duck duck go or pop dog which are all available at Discount Magic, so check them out but until next time, see ya!
