– Intro / Brief Overview
What’s up everybody and welcome to Magic For Beginners, my name is Keith and in today’s video we’re taking a look at a deck of cards and you may think that you’ve already seen these on the channel, which is very true but this is a new version a such, this is the Night Flight Deck Pro version by Steve Dela, which is a 100% PVC deck of cards. These cards are marked and have loads of hidden features too. I still class this as one of my favourite marked decks and hopefully it’ll be one of yours too!
My very first deck of Night Flight cards were the older Pro decks of Night Flight and I discovered them after a friend had them and used them for using the markings for tricks and as they were PVC they were perfect for weddings he was doing as it didn’t matter if they got wet with drinks etc from tables.
– How Much Are They?
So how much are these cards then? You can grab these from Night Flight Deck dot com for only twenty five pounds, which you may think is a high price compared to a deck of Bicycle cards for example, but as these are PVC they are designed to last many years and not just one gig. So if you have these for even two years before you buy a new deck, it’s twelve ounce fifty per year, which is about three and a half decks of Bicycle cards, or one every three months.
– Tuck Case
The tuck case is a very standard tuck case in terms of keeping it on the down low of being a ‘trick deck’ and people don’t think it’s a special deck as a result of this. It has the large Spade design on the front with the bat sign on there and above that it has the wording of casino quality playing cards and poker size. The sides have poker and casino finish and the back of the tuck shadows the backs of the cards and features that design on there.
– Backs Of Cards
The back of the cards is what this deck is all about and why I personally think this is one of the best marked decks out there. This one is a fully reader marked deck of cards which has markings for the suit and value of the said card, markings for if it’s a red card or a black card and there’s also a one way star and a 10 of spades key card gap too. There’s also some card reveals built into some of the cards too for some extra fruity card reveals during tricks.
– Additional Cards?
Let’s talk about additional cards that you get with the deck, you get two jokers in the deck, one has a card reveal on the face of the card too, which is the 3 of diamonds and is also marked on the back of that card to ensure you know which joker has that reveal. You also get a double backer playing card included too which is great for additional magic tricks.
– Looking Through The Deck
Let’s talk and have a look through the deck. When you Look through the deck, you’ll notice that the faces are big and bold compared to the standard Night Flight deck and really pops out of the card which is always a good thing and the same goes for the markings on the back of the cards too, they’re well hidden in the design but they are super easy to see and read once you know where they are and they’re quite large too, so can be seen from a distance so good news for those with bad eye sight for sure!
Before we talk about how these cards handle, I can’t handle how awesome you all are who have already subscribed to the channel and remember if you’re not subscribed and you’re enjoying this video, then a subscribe to the channel would be great thank you, but let’s continue on with the video…
– How Do They Handle?
Now onto handling, as they’re a PVC deck it makes things like riffle shuffles, springs and faros easier and feel like a hot knife through butter when using them, but then there is some drawbacks to the PVC deck in certain things such as fans aren’t as well presented as a standard deck as the PVC makes it a bit clumpy, but that’s one downside I’m happy to have to allow these cards to be as durable as they are. They’re perfect for performers in bars and pubs as the cards are waterproof so can be dried and used again after performing. If you have a standard deck and it’s wet, then it’s a complete duff and can’t be used again, hence saying these should last for years. So you can perform a range of sleights and tricks using these like a standard deck but use the marking for some magic or mentalist work and they’re fantastic.
– Conclusions
As we’re getting to the end of the video, we’re onto final conclusions and the standard deck of Night Flight cards is one of my favourite marked decks as I stated in the intro and this PVC version just gives that extra durability for the deck and allows this to be used for so much longer than the standard deck over time and is now the deck in my EDC bag that I take around with me instead of the normal Night Flight deck. The deck keeps getting better and better over time from Steve making amendments and changes and compared to the first deck of the PVC deck that I had and everything as a whole is so much better and can’t wait to see what other improvements over time Steve is going to do. Maybe some personalised face cards and having my bearded face on there, that would be good I think, maybe I should make a petition to get this done?!
I hope you’ve enjoyed the video and before you leave, why not check the description or the card on this video and check out the fantastic Cracker Cards trick review that is on the channel, which uses the Night Flight PVC cards too and until next time, see ya!
