What’s up everybody and welcome to the video, my name is Keith and in today’s video I’m going to be heading back to the Blackpool Winter Gardens to talk about my top 5 tricks from the convention. I’m not actually going back in person, but virtually through video. If you’ve not checked out the full video showing all of the dealers then it’s one of the recent videos on the channel, so check that out after this one, as it’ll appear on the screen at the end of this video.
But as stated, this is my top 5 from the convention and others may have different opinions, but these are based on tricks that I think I’d perform and thought were fantastic tricks, rather than something which is a magician fooler, if that makes sense. One thing what I also take into consideration is the thoughts and reactions of my wife too which were captured in the main video, as she doesn’t know magic and doesn’t want to know the workings behind tricks, so her reactions are real and you can usually gauge from those what tricks work well with a regular lay audience.
With that being said, let’s head into the list where I’ll have a short chat about the effect and then show a performance from the convention so you can see it performed in full to get an understanding of the trick more.
In at number 5, we have Sharpie Thru Card which was performed by Mark Mason.
I was debating between this one and another trick I saw performed by Mark which I didn’t film and it was a trick where you take two jokers and put one near the top of the deck and one near the bottom of the deck, name a playing card and those jokers rise to the middle of the deck and end up either side of that freely named playing card. Which was amazing, but this sharpie through card is super visual too. I did end up going back to the table to buy this for myself and they had all completely sold out by the time I got back, which I guess shows you how good it is. Here’s a quick video performance of this from the dealer hall.
Coming in at number 4, we have the one and only Juan Colas
He has a new purse box which he’s releasing soon, but it wasn’t that one I wanted to put in here, it was his 5 card trick which was fantastic for me. Last year, he showcased H2O which I have to learn and shoot a review for soon which is silky smooth and this one is the same, where you have 5 cards and show them laid down from ace to five and the cards have been magically reversed when showing them again, but here’s a video to showcase the trick much better than describing it.
In at number 3, we have Outside The Box by Thomas Badar.
Yet again, Thomas has another fantastic trick released at Blackpool, like he does every year, where he only has one effect released at Blackpool and it’s always an amazing trick and sells out at Blackpool and this is no different. A playing card is named and selected and then on the box it states that the card is a certain number down in the deck of cards which has just been removed from the deck. You count down and then that selected card was at that number. Mindblowing. Again, this is another one that I was gifted from Thomas at Blackpool, so I’m excited to get this opened and looked at and learn it too, as I loved Lumino from last year that he gave me too for a review and that is a fantastic piece of magic. But here’s a performance from Blackpool this year with Outside The Box.
Before we get to number 2, I just wanted to talk about the sponsor of this video and it’s two people I met for the first time this year at Blackpool and that’s Benji and Jacob from The Daily Magician. I saw them when they were filming some YouTube videos and when they were done, I commented that I loved listening to their podcast and get their emails and I was given a copy of the mag as they had one for the first person to come and speak to them about The Daily Magician, which is fantastic.
Anyway, they wanted to sponsor a video on the channel, so I could let you all know about their current two dollar deal they have at the moment, which is has no hidden charges or subscriptions. It was $1, but has since gone up to $2, but for this amount, you can get access to the full back catalogue from Sans Minds which has some great tricks (And I actually signed up to this myself before I knew about the Daily Magician deal), but you also get three free tricks from Ollie Mealing and some other bonus things from this too. There’s a link in the description below if you want to sign up to this fantastic offer, which even just for the Sans Minds stuff is great, but with the added bonus things you get, then it’s a no brainer for $2, so pause this video, click the link and sign up and come back here to see who I put at number 2 and number 1 in my Blackpool favourite tricks.
For number two in my list, we have Adam Dadswell and Sentinel.
The video should help this better to showcase this effect, but it’s a drawing duplication routine where a spectator can draw an image on a blank playing card or billet and you then lose than into the deck, take another blank card and you can draw that image and it’s the same thing. This seems effortless and something which has a great impact on people and was something that using a story that Adam presented allows some quite emotive and thoughtful memories to be projected and makes it more personal. This is something I didn’t pick up at Blackpool which I should have done, but I’m going to be looking to pick this up very soon from Adam and get a review of it on the channel too. But here’s a full performance of this from Blackpool.
Now it’s time to get down to number one and number one is Christian Grace and Captivate.
An interesting fact about this is that I did all of the dealer hall video and then I was going back at a later date to pick up the tricks that I wanted to purchase at Blackpool; Christian Grace was sold out when I went to buy this however there is one which have been held back for somebody but they didn’t actually show up to buy the trick so I took it off him and I bought the last captivate that Christian had therefore making it a sellout at Blackpool. Also, when I went back to purchase this trick, Christian had told me that he had been presented with a trophy saying that it was the trick of the Blackpool convention so how mad is that? Check out this performance from Christian.
I hope you enjoyed my roundup of the best tricks for me personally at Blackpool Magic convention 2026 if you have seen my dealer Hall video or any other videos from Blackpool let me know in the comments below about your favourite routine or trick or performance from Blackpool that you have seen. If you have not seen my video yet, then check out the link on the screen and that will take you to the video so you can check out some awesome Magic but until next time see ya.
